According to a report from the Daily Mail, Arsenal and Liverpool have joined the race to sign Ricky-Jade Jones, who has already been the subject of a £2 million approach from Tottenham.
Jones looks to be one of the most exciting talents coming through in the EFL. He made his League One debut for Peterborough United at the weekend having previously scored two goals in three appearances in the cup competitions.
His debut for Posh actually came against Arsenal’s under-21 side in the Leasing.com Trophy earlier this season. And it appears that he may have caught the Gunners’ eye in that game.
The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal and Liverpool are amongst the sides currently monitoring his development.
Manchester City, Spurs, Manchester United, Southampton, Leicester City and Burnley have also taken note of the starlet.
It is not clear how much the third tier side want for the teenager. So it will be interesting to see how much each side is willing to pay to try and beat their rivals to his signature.
Given the amount of interest, it would be little surprise if one of the clubs do make a substantial bid in the near future.
Tottenham have already made their first move. And it appears that that may prove to be the catalyst that inspires several of their rivals to make their own bids.
