Report: Arsenal and Leeds United among several teams interested in Jose Campana transfer

It seems that Jose Campana is a wanted man this summer, with four teams ready to bring the Spaniard back to England for a second crack at the Premier League.

Campana previously had an unsuccessful spell at Crystal Palace in 2013-14 but he has reinvigorated his career at La Liga side Levante and now the Premier League is calling again.

According to a report from El Desmarque, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton, and newly-promoted Leeds United are all keen on the player.

Arsenal are looking for continued reinforcements in the heart of midfield and Campana could very well be a more cost-effective option than other linked players.

Leeds United will be looking to add some depth and quality following promotion. Campana, a former Spain under-20 captain, would be perfect to add cover in midfield for either Kalvin Phillips or Mateusz Klich, especially given Adam Forshaw’s injury record.

Campana is also represented by Juanma Lopez, an agent Victor Orta has previously done business with when Middlesbrough signed his client Alvaro Negredo which might afford Leeds an edge in any dealings.

Both Everton and Aston Villa need to improve in the heart of midfield so Campana would also be a decent addition for both clubs.

All four teams face competition. Villarreal and Atletico Madrid are also keen whilst Campana is said to be keen on a return to former club Sevilla.

Last June, as reported by MARCA, Levante demanded a fee in the region of €30 million (£27m) for the player when Sevilla first showed interest. It remains to be seen what their asking price might be on this occasion.

But it does appear as though a bidding war could erupt for this one time Premier League disappointment.
