Arsenal and Leeds United remain interested in signing Noussair Mazraoui, with Barcelona and AC Milan also keen on the right-back, according to a report from Calciomercato.

Mazraoui has looked set to be on the move for some time. His contract with Ajax expires at the end of the campaign. And he has already confirmed that he plans to leave in the summer.

Reports last year claimed that both Leeds and Arsenal want Mazraoui. The 24-year-old actually got the chance to come up against the Whites in pre-season.

Calciomercato reports that Milan and Barca want the Morocco international. But they add that both Leeds and Arsenal remain in the picture for his signature.

Leeds need Mazraoui a lot more than Arsenal – provided they stay up

The quality of the clubs chasing the defender’s signature highlights how much potential he has. And it could be a masterstroke to sign him this summer given that his contract is set to expire.

It would be a coup for any of the quartet to land him. But it would certainly appear to be Leeds who need Mazraoui a lot more than Arsenal, as things stand.

Leeds have not had the best season. Jesse Marsch’s men are right in the relegation mix. And clearly, dropping into the Championship would see their hopes of a deal dashed.

But they do need to improve in that area of the field. Neither Luke Ayling or Stuart Dallas have managed to replicate the form they showed during Leeds’ first year in the Premier League.

Arsenal meanwhile, produced a brilliant deal last summer when they landed Takehiro Tomiyasu. And Cedric Soares has actually been excellent lately.

Mazraoui has five goals and four assists across the Eredivisie and Champions League this term. And he can play in a variety of other roles. So he would be a superb signing for most.

It would be a big statement if Leeds or Arsenal could bring him to the Premier League.
