French website Le10Sport have claimed that Arsenal, Everton and other interested clubs will have to table a wage more tempting than the £85,000-a-week PSG have offered to keep Thiago Silva.

Silva, 35, looks set to leave PSG this summer after eight years, seven titles and 310 appearances with the French champions. Despite his age, it has sparked mass interest in a potential move for the Brazilian giant.

Now, it has been made clear that PSG have tried to extend Silva’s contract but offered him between £70,000 and £85,000 a week – a much smaller figure than he was previously earning. Silva has rejected that deal.

L’Equipe claim Silva has played his last game for PSG, and Le10Sport state that the likes of Arsenal, Everton, Manchester United, AC Milan and Barcelona will have to improve PSG’s offer to sign Silva on a free.

TBR’s view – PSG’s offer surely a tactic to just get rid of Silva

The Brazilian is said to be earning north of £200,000 a week, so to hand the centre-back a pay cut of more than half is simply saying that PSG want Silva to leave – and that they feel he is only worth a fraction of what they pay him.

A move to the Premier League could suit Silva, given English clubs are expected to have the most power in this summer’s window. But the fast pace of England’s top tier may see the veteran struggle.

Barcelona’s dominant style of play could suit Silva but a return to former club Milan is the best option – whether Milan can afford to improve on PSG’s offer, remains to be seen.
