According to FootMercato, Rennes have no intention of turning Steven Nzonzi’s spell with the club into a permanent one, opening the door for Arsenal and Everton.
FootMercato claimed a few weeks back that the Gunners and Toffees were keeping a watchful eye on Nzonzi’s situation with Rennes.
And now that same publication is claiming that Nzonzi’s spell in France is set to come to and end, with Rennes instead eyeing up new players in the summer.

Nzonzi is well known in England for spells with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. Since then, his career has, in the main, gone from strength to strength. He became a regular for Sevilla, before being part of the France squad that won the World Cup in 2018.
But it appears that both Arsenal and Everton could get a free run at signing him if they wish this summer. Roma are believed to be open to selling him on, meaning the 32-year-is set to be on the market.
Interestingly, the Gunners did try and land Nzonzi back in 2018. Then-manager, Unai Emery, apparently keen on brining the Frenchman to The Emirates.
TBR View: Surely this is a no go for Everton and Arsenal?
There are red flags all over this potential deal for both clubs. Not to mention Nzonzi being on massive wages, something which Rennes want nothing to do with anymore, he’s also into his 30s and seemingly past his best.
Given Arsenal are building an exciting team under Mikel Arteta, it would be a surprise to see them go for someone like Nzonzi.
Everton, meanwhile, are well stocked in midfield and again, Nzonzi seems an unlikely addition at this stage.
