Report: Arsenal and Barcelona keen on Brazilian youngster Yuri Alberto
Arsenal are reportedly keen on challenging Barcelona for Internacionale forward, Yuri Alberto, in the summer transfer window.
Globoesporte make the claim. They suggest that the young Brazilian forward could be available for just less than £13m this summer.
Alberto is the second highest scorer for Inter this season. His progress has been good and he is still on the Arsenal radar after first appearing on it back in 2017.
The report from Globoesporte claims that Inter might be open to selling Alberto this summer while his stock his high. It is also claimed the forward holds a European passport, so would have no issues making the switch across the Atlantic.
Arsenal have previously landed Gabriel Martinelli from Brazil as a youngster and would have similar hopes for Alberto. However, Barcelona are also involved this time, and could well make their own move.
Alberto has struck seven times this season for Inter. For a 20-year-old, that is not too bad in just the 20 games.
Arsenal, like many clubs, are said to be scouring the South American market for talent. Manchester City have also made moves, signing the likes of Kayky and Metinho this summer already.
Arsenal wanting Yuri Alberto is a good sign for recruitment
If anything, it shows the Gunners are casting their net far and wide in the search for new players. Alberto is clearly a talented lad, and it’s easy to see why there is interest.
Further, at around £13m, it’s a risk that’s worth taking. He won’t break the bank and there’s a chance Alberto develops further into a superstar.
Arsenal do need to keep making additions and with Edu at the helm, could well utilise the Brazilian market more. Gunners fans, then, will be hoping this is just the start.
