Report: Arsenal ‘99.9%’ done with second summer signing; will be part of pre-season trip to America
Arsenal are one step away from completing a deal for Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.
According to HLN, the Gunners are ’99.9%’ of the way to announcing the youngster as a new Arsenal player from R.S.C Anderlecht.
As per the report, Lokonga will be part of the north London side’s USA pre-season trip later in the month. Arsenal will face off against the likes of Inter Milan and Everton in Florida in a mini-tournament.
Lokonga is currently in isolation after arriving in London over the weekend. Nuno Tavares had to follow a similar protocol. The defender was announced as a new signing last week by Arsenal.
The Portuguese defender will likely make his unofficial Arsenal debut this evening when the Gunners take on Hibernian in Edinburgh.
The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have travelled up to Scotland.
Moreover, this Saturday will see the Gunners face off against Rangers in Glasgow. And Lokonga could become an Arsenal player by then.
After Lokonga, Arsenal will likely shift attention to completing a deal to sign Ben White as well as signing a creative midfielder.
Indeed, the defender is a key target for Mikel Arteta this summer. And with Euro 2020 now done, the north London side have the time to sign the Brighton star.
Emile Smith Rowe’s contract will also likely be resolved in the coming weeks. The playmaker has just two weeks left on his current deal with the north London side.
