Report: Apparent Leeds United target Tanguy Kouassi to become free agent in two weeks

It looks as though Paris Saint-Germain defender Tanguy Kouassi is set to leave the club at the end of this month. RMC Sport is reporting that the talented defender will not sign a new deal at PSG and is ready to leave when his contract expires on the 30th June.

The report claims this was despite the efforts of star players like Kyllian Mbappe and Presnel Kimpembe, who tried to convince him to remain.

So what does this mean for Leeds United?

Of course, the Whites were linked with the player, who has been called the next Marcel Desailly by the French media, earlier this year.

90min suggested that Leeds were keen on the defender and his fellow PSG contract rebel Adil Aouchiche, who looks set to join Saint-Etienne.

It was an exciting piece of news for Leeds as Kouassi could have helped fill the void set to be left behind by Ben White’s upcoming return to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Now he is available on a free, Leeds have every right to make a move for the player and could be seen to be in an even better position to secure his services.

However, the report from 90min never suggested Leeds would be signing Kouassi permanently. Instead, it was believed that chairman Andrea Radrizzani’s links to the French side would help Leeds secure his loan arrival should PSG agree a contract extension.

Now, Kouassi is on the open market and despite RMC suggesting that links to RB Leipzig and AC Milan will not reach a positive conclusion, Leeds would face an even bigger fight for his services now he is a free agent.

Leeds fans will undoubtedly hope they can secure the services of this gem. However, with there set to be a gold rush on free transfers this summer, due to the global health crisis, it may have become an even harder task.
