Report: Antonio Conte will target Romelu Lukaku if he lands Tottenham job
Antonio Conte will make a move to sign Inter striker Romelu Lukaku once he is officially unveiled as the new Tottenham manager.
According to La Repubblica, the Italian boss will aim to reunite with the powerful talisman in North London.
Conte managed to get the very best out of the Belgian during his time at the San Siro.
He fired 30 goals last season as Inter ended Juventus’ dominance at the top of Italian football.
Lukaku has claimed earlier this week that he will stay with the champions, although if Conte comes calling that might change.
It is claimed in the report that Conte and Lukaku have an ‘incredible relationship’.
The 28-year-old has gone from strength to strength since joining the Serie A giants from Manchester United.
Not only did he bag 30 times last season but he also claimed 10 assists.
During 95 games for the Milanese giants he has scored a staggering 64 goals
Conte would be a staggering appointment for Tottenham if he gets the nod to replace Jose Mourinho.
BBC Sport reported yesterday that the ex-Chelsea boss is a clear front-runner for the job and he could get the nod.
Conte is a born winner and his stellar book of contacts could make him a serious coup for Tottenham.
Lukaku to Tottenham: Is a game-changing signing on the cards for Spurs?
One caveat to Tottenham potentially signing Lukaku is that it would come on the back of Harry Kane leaving.
The Belgium international is a year older than Kane but boasts similar prowess when it comes to scoring goals.
Conte will have big ambitions if he arrives at Tottenham and he is a renowned trophy winner.
Signings will be needed for him to achieve that in North London and Lukaku could prove an astonishing addition.
