Report: Antonio Conte has a striker in mind for Spurs who's 'better than Harry Kane'

Spurs are in the midst of uncertainty, looking for a new manager and sweating over Harry Kane’s Tottenham future.

Jose Mourinho got his marching orders in April, meaning a new Tottenham manager is high up on Daniel Levy’s agenda.

Likewise, Kane is reportedly eager to leave Spurs in wake of a trophy drought stretching back to 2008.

However, Tottenham seem to be making progress on the managerial front at least.

Celtic strike Premier Sports deal - is this the "additional value" we've been waiting for?

According to The Guardian, Spurs are confident of bringing Antonio Conte to the Premier League.

The Italian left Inter Milan not long after leading them to the 2020-21 Serie A title.

“Conte left Inter last Wednesday because he was unhappy at their plan to sell about €80m of players to plug holes in their balance sheet,” wrote The Guardian.

Romelu Lukaku played a big part in the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto win with 24 goals and 10 assists in the league.

And according to La Repubblica, Conte would look to snap up the Belgium international if Kane leaves.

The Italian outlet says Lukaku is Conte’s favourite striker, with whom he enjoys a superb working relationship.

And Inter, who don’t seem to be in the best financial situation right now, would reportedly be open to doing business.

“As many goals as Lewandowski”

Former Inter striker Nicola Ventola raved about Lukaku on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel last year.

“I think Lukaku is better than Harry Kane,” Ventola told BOBO TV via Goal.com.

Vieri added: “If Lukaku played for Bayern Munich he’d score as many goals as Lewandowski.

“But Lewa would not score as much if he played for Inter.”

A big summer awaits Spurs, who seem to be closing in on Conte and could potentially lose Kane.

Admittedly, Lukaku has expressed his desire to stay at Inter – but this could be tested in the summer amid the club’s financial situation.

If Kane leaves, Spurs would be getting a lot of money for him, and surely they could tempt Inter with a sizeable bid for their star striker.
