Report: Antonio Conte could pick 'perfect' Tottenham player to feature against Roma tomorrow now
Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has been handed some good news ahead of his clash against former rival Jose Mourinho tomorrow, with Football.London reporting that Ben Davies will be fit for the game against Roma.
Davies missed the last pre-season game at Rangers after suffering an ankle injury in the game before against Sevilla.
The Welshman was pictured flying home from Spurs’ pre-season tour of South Korea wearing a protective ankle boot.
There were also fears that the ‘perfect’ Davies could miss the first game of the new Premier League season.
Ben Davies will be fit for Roma
But Conte has been handed a fresh boost as Football.London reports that the Italian could now pick Davies for the game against Roma tomorrow.
The defender missed out on Spurs’ first pre-season game against Team K-League and then suffered an injury in the following fixture.
As a result, Davies has had limited minutes this summer and Conte will be happy to have the opportunity to get him up to speed before the season begins.
Spurs travel to Israel to play against their former boss Jose Mournho, as they face off against Roma in the I-Tech Cup.
Davies news is great for Conte
Davies was an integral part of Conte’s success at Spurs last season as he formed brilliant relationships with Cristian Romero and Eric Dier in defence.
The Wales international found a new role at Tottenham as he played on the left side of a back-three and was solid in defence.
The club have signed Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan deal and Davies looks set to compete with the Frenchman for a place in Conte’s side.
But after the Welshman’s performances last season, the position is his to lose and gaining some more playing time against Roma tomorrow will be a big boost for the player.
