Tottenham are edging closer to what many consider a dream appointment in Antonio Conte, with Nuno Espirito Santo having been relieved of his duties this morning.
Santo lasted just four months in the Spurs hot seat. A big loss against Manchester United at the weekend proved to be the beginning of the end for the Portuguese coach.
Spurs, though, are moving on quickly and are said to be close to appointing Antonio Conte as their new manager. The Italian was the first-choice in the summer anyway, and now looks to finally be making his way to North London.

And for some members of this Tottenham squad, Conte’s appointment is great news indeed. According to Football.London, the former Chelsea manager is a big fan of Harry Kane already. Further to that, Conte is also an admirer of Tanguy Ndombele, with FL claiming he had tried to bring the Frenchman to Inter Milan.
Both Kane and Ndombele have struggled this term. The England skipper’s summer of uncertainty has left a dark mark on his previously unblemished Spurs career. Ndombele, meanwhile, has struggled ever since signing for £53m back in 2019.
TBR’s View: Conte getting best from Kane is key for Tottenham
If this Tottenham team are to be successful – under Conte or anyone else – then getting Harry Kane firing is key. He’s one of the best strikers in the world, so the fact even he was suffering under Nuno speaks volumes.
Conte needs to get the best out of Kane, and more. The comment on Ndombele is an interesting one. Everyone has always assumed – and at times, seen – that the midfielder is a talent. But this will be a third manager now who will need to try and get the best out of him.
Overall, though, it’s exciting times for Spurs fans. Conte should do the business, and if Kane and Ndombele can perform, then that’s a bonus for Tottenham.
