Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that another side are interested in Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, just hours after Italian giants AS Roma were touted as a possible new home for the Argentine.

Indeed, it is claimed that La Liga side Celta Vigo are now also interested in Bielsa, who has excelled as Leeds boss and won the hearts of the Elland Road faithful – even though Leeds failed to gain promotion.

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed Roma are set to lose Claudio Ranieri, after the former Leicester City, Chelsea and Fulham boss was only appointed on a short-term deal to replace former manager Eusebio Di Francesco.

Celta, meanwhile, appointed Fran Escriba until the end of the season and he saved the top-tier side from suffering a surprise relegation – steering them to four wins and four draws in 12 games. They finished 17th, four above 18th.

He is now set to leave the club, though, and it seems as though Celta are eyeing Bielsa. The former Argentina boss has managed Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, but is in contact talks with Leeds.

TBR’s view

Leeds have to move quickly, if they want to keep Bielsa. The Yorkshire Evening Post have stated that Leeds are talking to Bielsa over keeping him for another 12 months – in what was a pre-agreed option.

The former Marseille, Lille and Lazio boss is earning a huge £58,000-a-week at Elland Road (Di Marzio), and he has certainly proved value for money – restoring pride and excitement to Leeds fans.

But with Roma and Celta lurking and other clubs likely to become interested, Leeds are in danger of losing their best chance of promotion in years.
