Thiago put on a masterclass against Manchester United on Tuesday night, as Liverpool put themselves top of the Premier League.
Manchester City have since returned to the summit but the 4-0 win was the latest expression of Liverpool’s quality and dominance over their bitter rivals.
The Spaniard was never put under any serious pressure and he was given free reign to run the show and bend the game exactly to his will.

The Athletic report that Thiago drew a round of applause at one point in the first half from Andrew Robertson – that’s how good he was.
They wrote: “United legend Paul Scholes, was even spotted joining in with the applause as Thiago left the pitch to a long and loud standing ovation on 80 minutes.
“Ibrahima Konate, who was rotated out in place of Joel Matip following his FA Cup heroics on Saturday at Wembley against Manchester City, spent the entire game clapping after every pass Thiago made. He wasn’t alone in that.
“There was a moment on the pitch in the first half when Andrew Robertson applauded Thiago’s passing exchange with Luis Diaz.”

This was one of Thiago’s best games for Liverpool and clearly one that his teammates and supporters enjoyed – and rightly so.
Next up are Everton, who scraped a late draw at home to Leicester last night, to leave themselves still in relegation peril, which could get worse if Burnley beat Southampton tonight.
Thiago will need to be managed carefully from a fitness perspective but if he keeps playing like this, Liverpool have a great chance of getting the wins they need to scoop silverware on as many fronts as possible.
