Everton are seemingly in the hunt for Lazio’s versatile dynamo Adam Marusic.
It was first reported by French publications L’Equipe and Le10 Sport earlier in the week that the Toffees were keen on the €15 million-rated (£13.5m) Marusic and willing to challenge Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.
Now, reports in Italy have also stated Everton’s interest.
Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, are claiming that Everton’s interest in Marusic is as a ‘direct request’ of coach Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian is said to be a big fan of the player from his recent time working in Serie A with Napoli. The reports in Italy however are less kind regarding his transfer valuation. Everton would need to shell out €20 million (£18m) for the player.

As for Lazio, they will be keen to keep him. As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, the Biancocelesti’s sporting director Igli Tare is set to offer him a new contract lasting until 2025.
It would be an interesting move for Everton.
The Montenegrin can play in a number of positions but is most comfortable as a right wing-back or attacking full-back. It is a position where Everton do not need to seek improvements, with Seamus Coleman, Jonjoe Kenny, and, potentially, Djibril Sidibe all available to Ancelotti.
Marusic has also struggled for his best form and fitness this season. A thigh strain has seen him often used from the bench for the Serie A high-flyers, playing just 10 games for the club this season, with summer signing Manuel Lazzari taking his place.
So it will be interesting to see whether Everton act on this apparent interest or if the club have instead been linked erroneously.
