Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock may well have left the Emirates Stadium to join Newcastle United by the weekend, the Shields Gazette say.
Willock on the way
They claim that both Arsenal and Newcastle are keen to get a deal over the line in the near future.
Willock looks set to join Newcastle on a season long loan, with the player eager to return to St. James’ Park.
Arsenal loaned Willock to Newcastle last season, where he hit seven goals in seven matches and really caught the eye.
The 21-year-old quickly became the Magpies top target this summer, and it seems that a deal is now on the verge of completion.
Newcastle have now booked Willock a flight up to the North East.

Both parties hope that the transfer will be complete before July 25th, when Arsenal fly to America, but the deal could be done by the weekend according to the latest update.
Better for Newcastle than Arsenal?
The transfer does seem to make a lot more sense for Newcastle than Arsenal.
Willock’s return will definitely create excitement at St. James’ Park, given the huge impact that he had last season, which led to him being labelled ‘amazing’ by Allan Saint-Maximin (Stadium Astro).
But, on the face it, the move doesn’t make too much sense from an Arsenal stand point.
Willock’s value is already high, given his goalscoring season since January, and letting him go on loan again doesn’t seem to massively benefit them.
