Newcastle United are reportedly close in on a deal for Nice attacker Allan Saint-Maximin, with a medical now imminent ahead of a transfer.
According to Sky Sports, the Magpies are “very close” to agreeing a sum for the 22-year-old Frenchman.
It is understood that Steve Bruce’s team could end up paying £16.5million rising to £20million for the winger.
The report details that Saint-Maximin is expected to travel to Tyneside over the weekend for his medical once the finer details are agreed over his transfer.
Saint-Maximin is a versatile attacker that can play anywhere across the frontline with his pace and trickery, which is set to earn him a big move to England.
He played 36 games across all competitions last season for Ligue 1 club Nice, scoring six goals and supplying five assists in return.

TBR’s View:
Saint-Maximin looks set for a switch to St James’ Park with a medical imminent and he could turn out to be an excellent piece of business from Newcastle.
The dazzling attacker has all the potential to be a hit in the Premier League and the Magpies are signing him for a decent price too.
There has been a lot of criticism at Newcastle over a lack of investment, but it will be hard to argue that if they have a frontline consisting of big-money signings Miguel Almiron, Joelinton and perhaps Saint-Maximin.
