Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi has told Allan Saint-Maximin that the Magpies want to build the side around him, and thus, he has been promised a new contract, according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (24/4; page 73).
Saint-Maximin’s future at St James’ Park had looked to be somewhat uncertain. Reports have claimed that he could be sold to bolster Newcastle’s transfer kitty this summer.

The Frenchman himself, admitted that he only expects his future to be resolved once the season has finished.
But it would appear that Newcastle do indeed intend to hold onto the 25-year-old.

In fact, he has been told by Ghodoussi that Newcastle intend to build the side around Saint-Maximin. And with that, he has been promised a new deal that will see him become one of the highest earners, according to the Daily Mirror.
Allan Saint-Maximin may need to step up if Newcastle hand him new contract
Saint-Maximin has given Newcastle fans more reason for hope than any other player over the last few years. At times, he has been absolutely devastating. He has been ‘outstanding‘. And it was his form that largely meant that Newcastle had a fighting chance of staying up when the January window came around.
But if he is going to get a new contract, it seems imperative that he steps up further. His assist on Saturday was his first goal involvement since mid-January.
It is clear just how prolific he could be if everything clicks for him.
But he has previously been considered the shining light in a struggling side. Now he needs to be prove that he can still be the talisman in a team now only looking to move up the table.
