Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo have claimed that Aston Villa have been rejected by Villarreal winger Alfonso Pedraza this summer, with the exciting Spaniard set to join Real Betis.
Pedraza, 23, has caught the eye of many around Europe this season after impressing in the yellow of Villarreal. He found the back of the net four times, and laid on five assists in 45 league and cup outings.
Able to play on the left side of defence and left wing, Pedraza’s pace, trickery, eye for goal and versatility has made him a crucial part of Villarreal’s side – and has seen Betis swoop to land the Spain youth international.
Villarreal have been willing to offload Pedraza this summer, after completing a move for Alberto Moreno on a free transfer from Liverpool. Pedraza has chosen Betis, after rejecting Aston Villa and Eintracht Frankfurt.

TBR’s view – Pedraza would have been a solid Villa addition
Villa need wingers, despite already signing Jota and Anwar El Ghazi. The Midlands club lack options out wide, and bringing in another player on the flank will give Dean Smith all he needs.
The club have been linked with Trezeguet of Kasimpasa, who has shone over the past two years – including for Egypt at the World Cup. But Pedraza would have been a better signing.
Pace, versatility, trickery, the former Leeds United winger Pedraza is still very young and has resale value. He would have been an ideal signing this summer.
