Arsenal will target Odsonne Edouard this summer, but only if Alexandre Lacazette leaves the Emirates, according to a report from The Sun.

Edouard is attracting plenty of Premier League attention after an outstanding spell with Celtic.

He ended this past season as the leading goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership, bagging 18 goals in what proved to be a hugely disappointing year for the Hoops.

The Sun reports that Brighton and Leicester want Edouard. They also suggest that the Hoops could be prepared to sell for around £15-£20 million as the Frenchman approaches the final year of his contract.

And Arsenal are also admirers. However, The Sun suggests that they only plan to make a move if Lacazette leaves.

As noted by The Telegraph recently, the Arsenal star’s contract expires next summer.

Football London meanwhile, has suggested that the Gunners plan to offer the 29-year-old a new one-year deal.

So it would appear that Arsenal may be outsiders for Edouard’s signature as things stand.

But of course, that may change should Lacazette decide to leave.

Lacazette – who earns around £150,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – has been a divisive figure for much of his time in North London.

He has arguably not scored as many goals as he should have done. He has not passed 14 league goals in a league campaign since arriving.

Having said that, he did finish the campaign as their leading goalscorer in the top flight.

So there may be some hoping that he does extend his stay. However, the notion that a move for Edouard depends on Lacazette’s future is only likely to strengthen the belief of some that it is time to move on from the latter.
