Report: Alan Stubbs rejects West Ham approach
Alan Stubbs has rejected the chance to move to West Ham United as part of David Moyes’s backroom team, according to a report from the Sunday Express (19/1; page 67).
The former Everton defender and coach was reportedly offered the chance to link up with his old boss at the London Stadium with Stuart Pearce not coming back to the club with Moyes.
However, it appears that Moyes has suffered a setback in his attempt to bolster his backroom team.
The Sunday Express (19/1; page 67) reports that Stubbs has turned down the chance to join the Hammers.
It remains to be seen if Moyes will now look elsewhere.
TBR View – Not ideal, but Moyes has bigger priorities
It is clearly not ideal for Moyes to not get Stubbs in after Pearce’s return was reportedly blocked. But his focus surely has to be on other issues right now.
The Irons are one point above the bottom three in the Premier League. They have also not won either of their last two league games.
They have made one signing this month. But Darren Randolph’s arrival has probably not captured the imagination.
The Irons arguably need to be busy during the final couple of weeks of the window. And once the deadline has passed, it may then be time to consider alternative options after Stubbs’s decision.
