The Record claim the agents of Paulo Fonseca have informed Aston Villa that the Portuguese gaffer would like to join the Midlands club.
Fonseca, 48, has been out of work since the summer – after a two-year stint at Roma where he was replaced by Jose Mourinho. He won 53 of 102 games.
Fonseca is becoming a household name in the Premier League – without ever playing or managing in England. He has been linked repeatedly.
In the summer, Fonseca was linked with the Tottenham job – only for a move to fall through at the last minute. He was in talks with Newcastle.
Now, Villa could be his next potential move. He does bring with him a wealth of experience, managing seven clubs in Portugal – including Porto.
He won three league titles with Shakhtar Donetsk, before Roma. The report claims his agents have told Villa that he would be open to joining the club.

Fonseca to Villa: Is manager the best option on the table for Villa?
On paper, his CV is excellent. Combine that with the fact he is out of work and would not cost compensation, Fonseca is surely the best option.
The fact he was linked with the riches at Newcastle, or a club as big as Tottenham, is proof that Fonseca is a top-level manager.
He has enjoyed success at most clubs he has managed. A win rate of more than half at a Roma in transition period is seriously impressive.
Villa could do a lot worse than appointing Fonseca – not least because it would save a lot of work trying to get Steven Gerrard out of Rangers.
