Report: Tottenham expect to sign a new forward in January, Adama Traore still eyed

According to a report from The Athletic today, Tottenham are looking to sign a new attacking player in January, with Wolves winger Adama Traore still firmly in their sights.

Tottenham have held a long-standing interest in Traore. Fabio Paratici wanted to sign him in the summer. But the Italian was reluctant to meet Wolves’ apparent £50m asking-price for Traore.

However, The Athletic state that Traore very much ‘fits the bill’ for Spurs and manager Nuno Santo. The pair worked together at Molineux and Tottenham are lacking players in wide areas.

Traore is known for his power, pace, and ability to drive defenders backwards. And while his goals and assists columns haven’t exactly lit up proceedings, the Spaniard is still regarded as a huge threat.

Tottenham made a number of signings in the summer. The likes of Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil, and Emerson Royal all arrived. But Paratici is determined to improve the squad further, with Traore on his radar.

TBR’s View: £50m still expensive but Traore a potential game change for Tottenham

There’s no doubting that someone like Adama Traore brings a new level of attacking prowess to the fore. He’s quick, powerful, and according to Graeme Souness, can be unplayable.

But, if Wolves are demanding that £50m figure still, then it seems a big sum to pay out for Spurs. Especially in January. Further to that, Traore could also sign a new deal with Wolves.

Fabio Paratici has definitely made a point of improving this Spurs squad as best he can. Traore, then, could be a great piece of the jigsaw.
