Report: AC Milan tracking Spurs star with Jose Mourinho may be open to sale

Davinson Sanchez may be offered the chance to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, with The Sun reporting that AC Milan are monitoring the defender’s situation in North London.

It has been a frustrating time for the Colombian. He has fallen out of favour since the 3-3 draw with West Ham in October. His last four appearances have all come in the Europa League.

The Sun claims that Jose Mourinho may now be open to letting him leave next month. And the Rossoneri have included him on their list of potential targets.

The report notes that Spurs would want a fee similar to the £42 million they paid for him in 2017. But with Milan Skriniar reportedly on their radar, it would appear that Mourinho may welcome the chance to bolster his transfer kitty.

TBR View: Too soon to write Sanchez off

It does appear that Sanchez has a lot of work to do to win his place back. And it would surely make a lot of sense to sell if Milan offer anything like £42 million when the window opens.

However, perhaps it would be fair to say that it is still too soon to write Sanchez off. And it would be little surprise if he remained at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium beyond January.

Mourinho has overseen a dramatic transformation with Tanguy Ndombele. Meanwhile, the likes of Serge Aurier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane are amongst those who seem to have taken their game to another level under the Portuguese.

Sanchez – who earns £65,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – is out of favour right now. But given the potential he previously showed, there is no doubt that he could be a remarkable asset for Spurs should everything click into place for him also.
