Watford are facing an uphill battle to keep hold of one of their top talents, with Gerard Deulofeu attracting attention from a number of clubs, including AC Milan and Sevilla.
According to The Telegraph, the former Barcelona and Everton man is wanted by the European giants after making a quicker than expected recovery from injury in recent weeks.
Deulofeu had been one of the Hornets’ standouts in recent seasons despite them dropping back into the Championship last term.
The club would have been hoping to keep hold of the Spaniard, however, with such big interest, it looks like his future could lie elsewhere.
Any sale of Deulofeu will, no doubt, add some funds to the coffers. It should also save some money over the long-term, with the winger thought to be one of the top earners at Vicarage Road.
Deulofeu has 20 goals and 21 assists in 127 PL appearances overall. He has been with Watford permanently since 2018, after a number of loan spells prior to making a move from Everton a permanent one.
A blow in terms of talent but not the end of the world either – TBR View
Watford was always going to lose a few players following relegation so it’s little surprise to see Deulofeu as one of the names being mentioned in relation to a move away.
He is, arguably, too talented to be playing Championship football. Both Milan and Sevilla would be big moves for the winger, while Napoli are also said to be interested.
Watford will, hopefully, get a decent chunk of change for their man and can then use that to reinvest in the squad.
