Report: AC Milan make Tottenham man Serge Aurier their backup target
AC Milan have made Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier their backup if they fail to sign Diogo Dalot, according to Calciomercato.
The Manchester United youngster spent last season on loan with the Italian club. He impressed hugely, helping them qualify for the Champions League and earning himself a spot in Portugal’s Euro 2020 squad.
Steffan Pioli labelled Dalot ‘the complete player’.
Meanwhile, speculation has been flying around about the future of Aurier. Football.london most recently claimed the player could well be on his way out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It is claimed by the Italian publication that no contact has been made between the side and Fabio Paratici over a deal.
Aurier move can help create squad space
A move away from Tottenham for Aurier can help create some space in the first-team squad.
The Ivory Coast international has blown hot and cold for the majority of his time in north London.
From his lack of discipline to switching off at crucial moments, there is a lot to dislike about the full-back. The moment which best shows his ineptness was his clumsy foul during the home defeat to Leicester City.
This summer proves an opportune moment to move the £72k-per-week ace on. Investment is needed at right-back as Tottenham look to step up next season.
