The Serie A giants are thought to be in the hunt for a new central defender this summer. With a new boss set to take over in the form of Ralf Rangnick, it is believed Milan will be active in the transfer market.

Ajer is highly-rated by Celtic and Neil Lennon will be desperate to keep hold of his man. However, they also know they may be forced to sell, with the Norwegian only have two years left on his current deal.

The Sun claims Celtic may well be looking for a fee around the £20m mark for Ajer. Along with Odsonne Edouard, it could mean the Bhoys are looking at a big cash injection from player sales in the summer months.

This story is one that’s been about for a while but it seems Milan are ramping up their efforts to sign the big defender.

And it’s little surprise, given how good he has been for Celtic this season. Big, strong, and athletic, he has all the attributes of a brilliant modern-day defender.

However, Celtic will struggle to keep him you’d think. AC Milan remain one of the giants of the European game and any move is likely to be hard for Ajer to turn down.

Lennon, then, will simply be hoping the club can get as much cash as possible to re-invest into the squad.
