Match of the Day have claimed on their online magazine that both Inter Milan and AC Milan are interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff – given that his contract is due to expire in the summer.
Longstaff, 19, has broken into the Newcastle side alongside his brother Sean, making seven senior appearances for The Toon this season. He has even scored two goals, both home and away against Manchester United.
But The Chronicle claim that the England youth international can leave Newcastle for a bargain £400,000 compensation fee either now or at any point over the next six months – unless he signs a new contract with The Toon.
Indeed, Newcastle are now in danger of losing Longstaff to foreign sides for just £400,000 and both Inter and AC Milan are interested in the Rotherham-born midfielder. Newcastle will need to agree a new deal with Longstaff to stop such a move.

TBR’s view – A no brainer for Newcastle to tie down Longstaff
It goes without saying that Newcastle must do everything within their power to keep teenage midfielder Longstaff on Tyneside. Two months ago, it would have been easy to keep Longstaff. But the lure of Milan may now prove tempting.
Two of Europe’s most historial, illustrious clubs in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities will be difficult to turn for Longstaff, let alone any player. Can Newcastle tempt Longstaff into staying? It is a no brainer that they do so.
