Aberdeen sent representatives to watch Everton’s U23 team beat Burton Albion on Tuesday night. And the scouts have identified three targets for Aberdeen to potentially pursue.
According to Club Call, Aberdeen’s scouts cast their eyes over Dennis Adeniran, Lewis Gibson and Anthony Gordon. It is unclear whether Aberdeen want to sign these players permanently or on loan.
Everton U23s – under the stewardship of David Unsworth – continued their strong form with a win over Burton. Goals from Ellis Simms and Antony Evans sealed the EFL Trophy win against the League One side.
Aberdeen’s scouts were at the game and watched on. Gordon caught the eye with an assist for Simms and some exceptional attacking play. The 18-year-old nearly scored – but for a good save – and Simms should have netted a second after good work from Gordon.

Midfielder Adeniran is also on Aberdeen’s radar. The 20-year-old is in the first-team squad at the moment with injuries in central midfield. But he is yet to make his Toffees bow.
Gibson has been impressive at the back and there is some belief that he is nearing a first-team call-up soon. But Aberdeen will hope to sign him first. The 19-year-old is a central defender or a left-back.
TBR’s view
Everton will not want to lose any of these three players. Adeniran is just one injury away from a first-team promotion and that will be a just reward for his exciting performances in the U23 team.
Gibson is Everton’s best defender in the academy and he could be pushing for a first-team spot soon. Meanwhile, Gordon is the most exciting youngster Everton have. The Toffees will surely rebuff any approaches from Aberdeen – loan or permanent.
