Report: £90k-a-week Everton ace confident of playing on Sunday despite doubts

Everton forward Richarlison is confident of being fit for the Toffees’ return to Premier League action on Sunday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Goodison Park marksman was on the receiving end of a controversial challenge from Edinson Cavani in the midweek game between Brazil and Uruguay.

After referee Roberto Tobar initially booked the Manchester United man, he consulted the pitch-side VAR monitor and upgraded the punishment to a red card.

Speaking after the game, Richarlison played down the significance of the challenge, but acknowledged that he could have potentially been seriously hurt.

“I think it was a ball dispute, he went over the top,” the Toffees ace is quoted by talkSPORT as saying.

“If my foot was stuck it might have even broken my ankle, but I think it wasn’t bad. He tried to steal the ball and ended up missing.”

And according to the Echo, Richarlison is confident that, despite that challenge, he’ll be fine to make the team for the trip to Fulham this weekend.

The 23-year-old has missed the last three league games due to suspension, while an ankle injury had dogged him since the end of September.

Things haven’t gone tremendously well for Richarlison recently, what with the ankle issue, suspension and being on the receiving end of a nasty tackle in midweek.

However, it looks as though the £90,000-a-week ace is on the mend and hopefully he’ll be back for the game against the struggling Cottagers, a great opportunity for Everton to put an end to their torrid recent form.
