Report: £50m star close to renewal but Tottenham and three other clubs still keen
A report from CalcioMercato reports that Fiorentina are ‘close’ to agreeing a new deal with Dusan Vlahovic – despite Tottenham still being interested.
Vlahovic, 21, is quickly emerging as one of Europe’s best centre-forwards despite his young age. Last season, he netted 21 goals in 37 league games.
This season, that form has only continued. The Serbia international has three goals in four Serie A games, including a brace against Atalanta.
His form has been exceptional, but he has entered the last two years of his contract with La Viola – much like Harry Kane has done at Tottenham.
Vlahovic was strongly linked with a move to Spurs in the summer. But now, it appears he is set to renew his current contract with Fiorentina.
Vlahovic to stay at Fiorentina: Big, big Tottenham blow
His goals, style of play and physique is similar to that of Kane. While the England skipper likes to drop deep and create, Vlahovic lacks the creativity.
Apart from the lack of creativity, which could of course come with age, Vlahovic would be the ideal replacement for Tottenham in the next months.
He is a bargain, too. Gianluca Di Marzio rate him at just £50million. If Spurs sold Kane for double and brought him in, it would be brilliant business.
However, it seems like Tottenham and Fabio Paratici are about to miss out on the striker, with Vlahovic penning a new deal with the Serie A side.
