Real Madrid would consider selling Martin Odegaard to Arsenal with a buy back clause inserted into the deal, ABC report.

New terms

Odegaard has apparently been told that he will have a bigger role to play at Madrid than ever before, as the Spanish side look to stop him from leaving.

However, a move from Arsenal is believed to appeal to the playmaker, who made a big impact at the Emirates Stadium last term.

Arsenal are apparently yet to make an offer for the Norwegian, who Arteta called ‘incredible’ (official website).

But a bid of £43 million, combined with a buy back clause, would be enough to tempt Madrid into selling, according to the latest update.

Doubts emerging

Madrid have doubts over losing Odegaard, as they feel he has great potential, and the deal could present a compromise for all parties.

The worry for Arsenal would be that if Odegaard did thrive then they would be powerless to resist losing him.

But Arsenal are in need of a number 10, and if the deal is there to be done, it may be one which they have to push on with – despite the clause.

Arsenal are also said to be interested in James Maddison, but he is difficult to prise away from Leicester City due to his asking price.

And it may be that Odegaard is the best option for Arsenal this summer, given the difficulties of any deal which they seem interested in currently.
