The Scottish Sun has claimed that Mikael Lustig will make a decision over whether to sign a new contract with Celtic this week, after representing Sweden against Spain on Monday night.
New Celtic boss Neil Lennon is desperate to keep 32-year-old Lustig at the club beyond the summer, though his current contract will expire at the end of the month.
It is believed Lustig, who has won 16 trophies with Celtic since joining the club in 2012 from Rosenborg. He was replaced in January by Jeremy Toljan, but immediately one his place back in the side.
Lustig has received contract offers from Malmo and AIK Stockholm as well as other European sides, but Lennon is desperate to keep the 75-time international at Parkhead this summer.

The versatile defender is fully focused on Sweden’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Spain, but will make his contract decision at Celtic after the match – as per the Scottish Sun.
TBR’s view
It is a decision that is currently splitting Celtic fans. Many believe Lustig deserves to remain at Celtic for another two seasons, given that he helped start eight in a row – and therefore he should be there to finish it.
Others believe that Lustig is past it. His performances in recent Old Firm matches have left a lot to be desired. Even Brendan Rodgers and Lennon have seemingly disagreed, with Rodgers opting against a new deal.
Signing a new right-back is likely to be on the agenda whether Lustig agrees to stay or not. So keeping him as cover is the best option for Lennon, in case a new right-back struggles – such as Toljan.
