Spanish outlet El Desmarque have claimed that recently-released Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Iturraspe is open to a move to Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United this summer.
The 30-year-old was first linked with a move to Leeds back in March, but has not been on the radar since then. However, he has been released by Bielsa’s old side, after managing just five appearances last season.
A Spain international, Iturraspe is renowned as an excellent passer of the ball, as well as remaining fiercely loyal. Indeed, he has clocked up an enormous 320 appearances for Bilbao – many of which came under Bielsa.
Now, Leeds are said to remain interested in Iturraspe, though previous reports have claimed that the club’s inability to gain promotion to the Premier League would determine whether they had a chance of getting the midfielder.

It is believed Iturraspe has interest from Asia and Greece, but he is keen to remain in Spain or move to England.
TBR’s view – Iturraspe would be amazing for Leeds
Leeds do have Kalvin Phillips in the holding midfield role but competition for the Aston Villa-linked holding midfielder could make him even better.
Indeed, it also gives Bielsa the option of switching to a more conservative 4-2-3-1 formation, which could be useful in moments where the Whites need to shut up shop.
On a free transfer, Iturraspe is an unbelievable signing.
