Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier didn’t celebrate his team’s first equaliser yesterday and ran straight over to Antonio Conte instead, reports Football.London

Spurs managed to get a point at Stamford Bridge yesterday after a 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

Conte’s men went behind twice in the game and after they equalised the first time, things got heated between the Italian and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.

The Chelsea manager was clearly unhappy with what he thought was a foul in the build-up to the goal and the two managers confronted each other on the touchline.

And instead of celebrating Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s brilliant long-range goal, Dier ran over to Conte to try and calm the situation down.

Dier didn’t celebrate Tottenham goal

Football.London reports that after Conte’s passionate celebration on the touchline, Dier ran over to the bench to act as a peacemaker

The 28-year-old decided to try and calm things down between the two managers instead of celebrating with his teammates.

Conte celebrated right in front of the Chelsea technical area and it’s fair to say that Tuchel wasn’t impressed.

Dier has been solid at the back for Spurs since the Italian took charge last November and is showing some excellent leadership qualities as well.

The Englishman was also solid for Tottenham yesterday in a game where he and his defensive teammates were under real pressure for large parts of the game.

Conte will be delighted to have a player like Dier in his team and will probably be thankful to his player for calming the situation down.

Although it didn’t stop the Italian from coming to blows with Tuchel once again after the full-time whistle and both managers were then sent off by referee Anthony Taylor.

In what was a heated battle between Chelsea and Spurs, it’s important to have cool heads in the team such as Dier. The centre-back certainly showed his leadership qualities yesterday as he attempted to calm his boss down.
