Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini will undergo a Tottenham medical on Thursday morning. The ex-Aston Villa stopper is set to join Spurs on a loan-to-buy deal. The option to make that deal permanent will cost the London club £13million.
Gollini, 26, looks set to be Tottenham’s first signing of the summer – the first since the arrival of sporting director Fabio Paratici and manager Nuno Espirito Santo. It hands Spurs a goalkeeper with serious quality, and probably relegates Joe Hart to third choice behind Hugo Lloris.
The report claims that a deal will go from a permanent option to an obligation if Gollini plays 20 times in all competitions. Hugo Lloris is likely to remain first choice but obviously the France captain is out of contract in June 2022. Gollini’s medical will take place on Thursday.

Gollini medical: A good deal for Tottenham at £13m?
With Tottenham competing in the Europa Conference League, the chances are that Gollini will play 20 times in all competitions. That is, of course, he can improve on his earlier Aston Villa form. He has certainly done that in Italy – keeping 10 clean sheets in 25 games for Atalanta during 2020-21.
On loan, with a view to a permanent deal at a relatively low price, is good business from Paratici and Spurs. Certainly, it is a much more reasonable price than the £40million clause inserted into Carlos Vinicius’ loan. But it is now up to Gollini to show he is worth of the £13million figure.
