Report: Tottenham's £25m offer for talent to be ignored; player views Spurs as an ‘unattractive’ club

Sevilla have reportedly ignored an offer from Tottenham for Jules Kounde after the defender rejected a move to the north London side.

According to ABC Sevilla, the Andalusian club will not respond to Spurs’ €30m (£25m) for the French international. Sevilla want €70m (£60m) for the 22-year-old centre-back.

The report also states that Kounde views Tottenham as an ‘unattractive’ club. The north London side won’t be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season.

The French youngster is keen to play for a side with ‘a winning project’.

Indeed, playing in Europe’s top club competition is key for Kounde. The defender guided Sevilla to Champions League qualification last season.

And the French youngster will seemingly only join a club who are also competing in the tournament.

With Spurs playing UEFA Europa Conference League football next season, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side find themselves at a significant disadvantage when trying to attract new players.

Tottenham are yet to sign anyone this window. And reports suggest that the new Portuguese manager is keen on signing a new defender this summer.

Spurs were inconsistent at the back last campaign, and Kounde would have been an excellent addition to the squad due to his defensive intelligence and athleticism despite his short height for a centre-back.

As well as a defender, Tottenham are looking for attackers with Harry Kane’s future at the club still up in the air.

The striker will return to the north London side later in the month for pre-season following his involvement with England’s run to the Euro 2020 final.
