Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a major doubt for Tuesday night’s Premier League game at Southampton, according to The Mirror.

The Gunners striker was withdrawn from the squad hours before their FA Cup fourth-round defeat to the Saints on Saturday due to personal reasons.

Speaking before the game, Mikel Arteta said he was unsure about whether Aubameyang would be back.

“I don’t know,” Arteta told Sky Sports when asked about the £250,000-a-week star’s availability. “He needs to address that issue, we’ll see how it evolves.

“We’re here and we have to support him and he needs to take the time that is needed because that is a priority at the moment.”

On Monday, The Mirror claimed that the Gunners do not believe he would be available for the game, but he will be given every chance.

TBR View:

Aubameyang has looked sharper and much more dangerous in front of goal recently, with a great brace against Newcastle in the league and another goal against them in the FA Cup.

It’s unfortunate that it looks as though he’ll be unavailable to play, but when it comes to personal matters, then those need to be dealt with first and foremost – we wish him well.
