Report: 25-year-old only willing to leave club for Arsenal after Arteta intervenes
Arthur is only willing to leave Juventus during the January transfer window if he is going to end up at Arsenal, following an intervention from Mikel Arteta, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.
Arthur has been linked with a move to the Emirates for a little while. The Gunners certainly cannot let the window pass without signing a new central midfielder.
The 25-year-old is yet to complete 90 minutes in Serie A this term. Interestingly however, it would appear that he was ready to stay and fight for his place in Turin.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that Arthur had not been considering a transfer this month. He was wanted by top clubs from both Germany and Spain.
However, Arteta appears to have convinced the Brazilian to change his mind. Tuttomercatoweb reports that Arthur will only leave Juve this month to join Arsenal. A loan until the end of the season is currently in the pipeline.
The Old Lady want a replacement signed before the former Barcelona man leaves. But Arthur has been won over by Arteta promising to hand him a key role at the Emirates.
Tuttomercatoweb suggests negotiations could come to life in the next few days.
Shot in the arm for Arteta if he convinces Arthur to join Arsenal
Arthur would arrive with a point to prove. His time at Juve has not exactly gone to plan. And he previously struggled at Barcelona.
But it would be a real statement for Arsenal. And it would be a shot in the arm for Arteta. It seems Arthur was content to stay put beyond January.
Juventus need to sign a replacement first. But he is apparently ready to buy into the Arsenal project. And that could be a game-changer if the Gunners see the best of Arthur in the months ahead.
