Report: 25-year-old may have played final game for his club after claims Leeds want to sign him
Matheus Pereira looks to have played his last ever West Bromwich Albion game amid claims that Leeds United want to sign him.
No pre-season games
The Birmingham Mail say that West Brom have agreed to allow Pereira not to play in any friendly matches over pre-season, as the playmaker looks to seal a transfer.
7 Transfers You Might Have Missed During Euro 2020
Pereira has been linked to a whole host of Premier League sides, with the Daily Express saying that Leeds and West Ham United are among the most keen.
And the latest developments suggest that a move away from the Hawthorns could be on the cards sooner rather than later.
Could The ‘Brazilian Super League’ Rival Europe’s Elite?
TBR reported how Pereira had been left out of West Brom’s squad for their friendly game at the weekend, and it seems that he could now miss the entirety of pre-season.
If the Brazilian was to join Leeds then he could inject even more flair into their attacking ranks.
Pereira was a regular source of both goals and assists for West Brom in the Premier League last term, despite their relegation.
His departure, therefore, always looked likely to be on the cards at the point the Baggies went down.
The prospect of seeing Pereira linking up with fellow Brazilian Raphinha is an exciting one for Leeds supporters.
And it will be interesting to see if Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s apparent interest materialises into a bid in the coming weeks, with Leeds still looking to make attacking additions.
