Report: 25-year-old Arsenal player is about to reject Jose Mourinho’s offer to sign him

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is about to reject the chance to join Jose Mourinho at Roma, Fiorentina News claims.

Torreira is widely expected to be announced as a Fiorentina player soon,with the midfielder on the verge of leaving Arsenal on loan.

The central midfielder apparently had offers from Roma and Lazio, but felt that Fiorentina was his best choice.

Torreira will surely have thought long and hard about which club to join next.

Ever since he moved to Arsenal he has struggled to really nail down a first-team place, at the Emirates Stadium or elsewhere.

Torreira went on loan to Atletico Madrid last season, but failed to earn a spot in Diego Simeone’s first-team with any regularity.

Back at Arsenal he also seems to have been deemed surplus to requirements.

Rejecting Mourinho

He could have been a midfielder who typically would have thrived in a Jose Mourinho side, though.

Torreira is a tough battler and has a really aggressive streak, which apparently appealed to Mourinho, but the Arsenal man apparently feels that his career would be better served elsewhere.

If Torreira does have a successful loan spell it could benefit Arsenal, as it would help to raise his value ahead of next summer, when they will surely look to sell him.
