Report: 23-year-old at Premier League club is ‘likely to join’ Celtic this summer

Celtic are reportedly expected to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer from Premier League and London club Tottenham.

According to The Mirror, Newcastle United are eyeing a deal for the Spurs defender during this transfer window.

However, the 23-year-old is “likely to join” Scottish giants Celtic.

It’s worth adding that the Daily Record claimed earlier in July that Celtic had made contact to Spurs about their £5million-rated defender.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou definitely needs some help in the transfer market and it sounds like he may have a new arrival on the cards. There is some disappointment at Parkhead following last night’s exit from the Champions League, losing a qualifier to FC Midtjylland.

If Carter-Vicker joins though, he’ll be a replacement for Kristoffer Ajer in defence after he exited the Hoops to join Brentford.

Carter-Vickers can be a hit at Celtic

Celtic need numerous fresh faces in their squad, but Carter-Vickers would be a solid start. He’s a centre-back who’s come through the academy of the north London club.

Carter-Vickers has made four senior appearances for Spurs, along with eight international caps for the United States.

However, it’s during loan spells in the English Championship he’s caught the eye most. In particular, the powerful centre-half was superb during the 2020/21 season with Bournemouth.
