Takehiro Tomiyasu wants to join Tottenham Hotspur from Bologna, a report in the Athletic has suggested.
Tottenham have already made a bid for Tomiyasu, and are now close to agreeing terms with Bologna.
As it stands Spurs are under £2 million away from reaching the Italian side’s asking price for the central-defender, who can also fill in at right-back.
His arrival at Tottenham could be vital, as the North London side look to bolster their defensive options.
A much needed addition
And the news that he actively wants to make a move to Spurs will surely appeal to the club’s fans.
For all the difficulties that Tottenham had finding a new manager, Tomiyasu’s apparent desire to join them highlights the club’s pulling power.
Tomiyasu could have a chance of going straight into Spurs’ team for next season, too, given their lack of convincing options at the back.

His versatility is a key strength, and it may be that Tottenham utilise him as a right-back, as neither Serge Aurier or Matt Doherty have looked up to scratch over the past year.
Tottenham leaked far too many goals under Jose Mourinho, and if Nuno is to make a success of his time with the Lilywhites, tightening up their backline will surely be one of his first priorities.
