Report: £20m Arsenal player has just flown into Dubai to join in with first-team training

Arsenal have now spent a few days working in Dubai ahead of the Premier League restarting.

Mikel Arteta has had the majority of his first-team squad available, alongside a number of exciting youngsters.

A report from Sponichi Annex has now revealed that Arteta is about to be joined by another of his senior players.

The World Cup has caused a lot of disruption to clubs’ preparations for domestic football starting up again.

A number of Premier League sides have their full complement of players available, while others are still missing half of their squads.

Manchester City, for example, still have 11 players competing in Qatar, which will be music to Arsenal fans ears.

Given the intensity of the schedule, most clubs have afforded their players some time off after being eliminated from the World Cup.

However, Arsenal have already seen Granit Xhaka head straight to Dubai after Switzerland’s defeat to Portugal.

Sponichi Annex now report that Takehiro Tomiyasu has also flown to Dubai to join in with training at Arsenal.

Tomiyasu flying in to join Arsenal training

It’s been a tough week for Tomiyasu after Japan’s elimination from the World Cup.

The £20m defender was incredibly harsh on himself after they lost on penalties to Croatia.

“Of course, we are so disappointed with the result. My performance was a disaster today so I am sorry for the team,” Tomiyasu said.

“I just need to be much, much better to help the team. It was not enough and also for the team, we did not deserve to win.”

After his final World Cup match, Tomiyasu said he wasn’t sure how long it would be until he was back in training.

The right-back claimed he needed some time away from football to get over the defeat.

However, less than three days after that loss, Tomiyasu has already flown back to join his Arsenal teammates.

It’s currently unclear when Ben White will return to action after leaving England’s World Cup squad.

Tomiyasu could go straight into Mikel Arteta’s first-team in his absence.

He’ll be hoping to get over the heartbreak of Japan’s defeat quickly and start focusing on Arsenal’s title challenge.
