Report: 16-year-old Arsenal midfielder gets promotion in club training, now playing above his age group

Arsenal youngster Louie Copley has now been given a promotion in club training, with Jeorge Bird’s Arsenal Youth claiming he’s now playing above his age group.

The Hale End academy has produced some brilliant talents in recent years, with the likes of Bukayo Saka going on to establish himself as one of the brightest prospects in Europe.

Emile Smith Rowe has also become an important part of Arsenal’s first-team, while Folarin Balogun is making a name for himself in France with Stade Reims.

Now, there could be another talented prospect set to come out of Hale End in the coming years as a 16-year-old has been training above his age group this week.

Copley gets big promotion in club training

Jeorge Bird’s Arsenal Youth reports that Copley was called up to a mixed training session with the U18’s and U21’s yesterday.

The teenager normally plays for the U16’s side and was involved in yesterday’s mixed session in north London.

He was wearing the number 109 shirt as goalkeeper Alexei Rojas is away on international duty with Colombia U20’s.

The English midfielder is a bit of an unknown prospect at this moment in time but he must be impressing to be called up to train with the U21’s.

It will only benefit the teenager to train alongside players who are further along with their development in north London.

It’s an exciting time for Arsenal in terms of the talents they have coming through their ranks. Ethan Nwaneri became the youngest ever Premier League player in September as Mikel Arteta handed him his debut at the age of 15 years and 181 days.

Copley will be hoping to continue climbing the ranks at Arsenal after getting a big promotion in club training yesterday.

Arteta has shown that he is not afraid to give younger players a chance throughout his time in north London and that must be encouraging for the prospects coming through the academy set-up.
