According to A Bola, Wolves are now interested in signing Matheus Nunes, after Everton pulled out of the race following Rafa Benitez’s arrival.
What’s the story?
Well, the Portuguese news outlet claims that Everton were close to signing the Brazilian when it looked like they’d be hiring Nuno Espirito Santo.
However, Benitez arrived at Goodison Park with different plans, and doesn’t seem to be interested in signing Nunes.
Now, Wolves – with their strong links to Portuguese players and clubs – are hoping to bring the Sporting Lisbon No.8 to Molineux.
A Bola believe Sporting Lisbon will accept nothing less than €18m (£15m) for the 22-year-old, who made 39 appearances last season.
Wolves could embarrass Rafa Benitez

It’s fair enough for Benitez to have his own signings in mind.
After all, the Spaniard isn’t obliged to continue his predecessor’s work in the market.
However, if Wolves manage to sign Nunes and he turns out to be a huge success in the Premier League, it will be quite embarrassing.

Benitez is already an unpopular man at Goodison Park due to his relationship with Liverpool.
Some fans were strongly against his arrival, and even hung up anti-Benitez banners around Merseyside.
So, if he has caused Everton to miss out on a quality young player, the supporters will potentially be even more annoyed at him.
