Phil Hay has reported on The Athletic that Archie Gray is ‘setting tongues wagging’ in first-team training – despite being aged just 15.
Born in March 2006, Gray is already a part of Mark Jackson’s Under-23 side. This season, he has already played four times for the second string.
Most recently, he was part of the reserve side that faced Chelsea on Friday – losing 3-1 as ex-Leeds midfielder Lewis Baker impressed, albeit for the 23’s.
Gray has footballing pedigree within his family, given his great uncle is Leeds legend Eddie Gray – and grandfather is Frank Gray.
Even his father, Andy, played for Leeds 28 times before turning out for the likes of Barnsley, Bradford, Nottingham Forest and other clubs.
Gray is well ahead of the curve and now, Hay has reported he has been playing in first-team training – and is “setting tongues wagging”.
“The schoolboy is setting tongues wagging by training regularly with the first team at Leeds,” Hay reported. Gray traveled to Tottenham on Sunday.

Hay on Gray: Could we see teen make senior Leeds debut soon?
While his burgeoning reputation continues to rise parallel to his development, the chances of seeing Gray in the first team are unlikely.
We must remember, he is still only 15. Even if he does not make his senior debut for the next two years, he is still so ahead of his time.
A season or two with the 23’s and then the chance to break into the Leeds side makes sense. But the talent is clearly there.
Having watched Gray’s performances for the 23’s, it is clear he has the quality but he needs to combine it with the understanding and learning.
