Reported Liverpool target Kai Havertz is in advanced talks with Bayern Munich over a potential £80million move, according to The Independent.

The 20-year-old has been sensational for Bayer Leverkusen over the past few years, clocking up a gargantuan 143 senior appearances in all competitions already despite his young age.

Havertz has also claimed 43 goals and 30 assists for his side, and has already won seven caps for Germany, so it’s little surprise that he is being linked with some of Europe’s top clubs.

As well as Liverpool, the likes of Bayern, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are all said to be keen on the Leverkusen ace, according to Goal.com.

Manchester United are also being linked with Havertz and, according to the Manchester Evening News, he views a move to the Premier League as a “very realistic option” at the end of the season.

However, The Independent now claims he currently favours the German champions, who are deemed at a much more advanced stage of talks than any other club.

The report also says Leverkusen have accepted that Havertz is leaving this summer, and would prefer to conclude a deal quickly in order to rebuild, which also suits Bayern.

The price quoted by The Independent is £80million, a reduction of around £9million from what some other outlets – such as Goal.com – have been quoting.

TBR View:

Havertz is one of world football’s most highly sought after youngsters, and given his exploits, it’s little surprise.

He has 15 goals and eight assists from 38 appearances in all competitions this season, while his last 12 games in all competitions have yielded 10 goals and six assists.

Plenty of speculation has been linking him with the continent’s elite clubs, and any other year, there would have been talk of £100million plus.

However, many clubs will be tightening their belts in wake of the global health crisis, and only a select few will actually be able to afford high fees.

As a result, Liverpool will likely be monitoring proceedings carefully and nervously, hoping Havertz stays put so they can try again when things – and finances – are back to normal.
