England teammates Kieran Trippier and Jordan Pickford were spotted arguing while going down the tunnel last night.
Newcastle captain Trippier led his side to victory at St James’ Park, a ground where Everton goalkeeper Pickford always gets a tasty reception for his Sunderland connections.
The Chronicle have reported on the melee just before half-time, when Trippier told Anthony Gordon in no uncertain terms he thought he went down too easily in the box.
That spilled over and then Trippier and Pickford were spotted continuing the argument as they went down the tunnel at the interval.

Trippier argued with Pickford
The pair have been to two major tournaments together with England and Trippier said before the game that Pickford was his best mate.
The defender netted a free-kick against Pickford and Everton last season and said before this term’s corresponding fixture: “It was lovely to score but it was even sweeter coming against Picks because he’s one of my best mates in football.
“Obviously from Sunderland as well so the fans were on his back. I was messaging him before the game as well having a bit of banter, trying to get inside his head.”
£12 million man Trippier was clearly trying to wind up Pickford last night and by that point at half-time, he had already conceded Miguel Almiron’s winning goal.
The win means Newcastle sit sixth in the Premier League, two points off Chelsea in fourth place, albeit having played a game more.
Trippier and Pickford will both expect to be in the provisional England World Cup squad named tomorrow with just a month to go until the tournament.
