Everton are set to lose young striker Bassala Sambou having failed to tie him down to a new deal, as reported by The Liverpool Echo.
The 21-year-old starlet’s current contract runs out at the end of the week and barring a last-gasp U-turn, the player will become a free agent.
Sambou has already been offered fresh terms by the club but the youngster does not see a future at Goodison Park.
The Hanover-born striker has never appeared for the club’s first-team.
Despite Everton’s struggles in front of goal last term at times, Marco Silva did not turn to Sambou, who finished the season with 11 goals to his name for the U23s.
As he prepares to bid farewell to the club, there is interest in his services from clubs in Germany and the Netherlands.
At the age of 21 it is important for Sambou to be playing regular football now, especially with the talent that he has.
It is little surprise to see him preparing to leave Everton – having not appeared for the first-team, the time is probably right.
Perhaps Sambou will head to the Bundesliga. Last term Ademola Lookman went on loan to RB Leipzig which was positive for his development, and full-back Jonjoe Kenny has just joined Schalke.
